Host your Avatars (2004-05-13 16:52:46)
Avatarity doesn't allow remote hotlinking of our avatar images. This is when other sites load our images directly. We have to do this because otherwise the bill for our traffic would be too high for us to keep going. However, many forums do not allow you to upload an avatar to their site - so hotlinking is the only option with them. For places like that we have made a Free Image Hosting Services page, which lists some free services you can use to hotlink to your images. Happy hosting!
Get your Buddy Icons here! (2004-01-31 00:23:46)
That's right - most of the Avatars we have on this site would make for killer Buddy Icons! Too bad they're mostly too big. Well, now we have a special feature that will let you resize any avatar to 48x48 pixels - the size used by most IM programs. And if you use AOL Instant Messenger, you can even install the Buddy Icon with a single click. Just look for the AIM "running man" logo.
New feature: Help Me Pick! (2004-01-13 21:22:26)
Here at Avatarity we have a lot of Avatars. A LOT. In fact, we have so many that you may have trouble chosing. Well, now you can get your friends to help out. With our new "Help Me Pick" page, you select a bunch of Avatars you like, and we give you a page where your friends can go and vote on which one suits you best. Simply log in to your Avatarity account, and look for a "Add to Help Me Pick page" link at the bottom of every Avatar's details page.
Resizing Feature (2003-12-30 08:22:16)
Have you noticed our resizing feature? It's been available for quite some time now! You can download a resized version of any of the avatars on this site by clicking "Get this Avatar in other sizes" under the Avatar dimensions on the Avatar details page. This works best for photographic avatars, but will look OK for anime as well. Animated and transparent gifs however will come out ranging from bad to horrible.
Multiple Accounts (2003-12-03 19:27:17)
A few people (you know who you are) have set up multiple accounts on Avatarity, mostly for the purposes of voting up their own avatars. While we appreciate your enthusiasm in our site, we'd like to ask you to please stop this practice. Within a couple of weeks, we will be deleting duplicate accounts, generally keeping only the person's first account open. If for one reason or another, you whish to preserve a different account, please send an email to staff@avatarity.com. (Include a list of accounts you have, and which one you wish to keep.)
New Chat Room (2003-11-16 17:04:08)
We have a new chatroom on the site, allowing for live chatting with other Avatarity visitors! You have to log in to your Avatarity account to be able to access it - once you log in, you will see a link in the top-right corner of the page. (If you don't have an account with us, signing up takes about a minute and is completely free!) Now the Chatroom is very new, so there might still be bugs with it, but I encourage you guys to test it out, and see if you can spot any problems.
Anime Overflow (2003-10-24 18:45:44)
We currently seem to have a lot of submissions into various Anime categories, but very few of anything else at all. While we appreciate every submission, we wish the site to remain a good soruce of avatars across a wide variety of categories. For this reason we are asking our users to consider submitting avatars to other areas of the site, such as Movies, Comics or Music. A lot of areas remain unfilled. While we will still be approving Anime avatars, we will be more strict in doing so, compared to other categories.
